Alan was born in Swansea on 10th April 1927 he was born on a Palm Sunday but only a handful of birthdays throughout his life did they fall on a Palm Sunday. He was a schoolboy during the 2nd World War and as Swansea was so badly bombed he went to live with his family to Raglan on Lord Raglan's Estate. Alan always loved football and as a schoolboy played football with his school friends John and Mel Charles, he would have had a schoolboy cap for football but the war came. He was a lifelong support of Arsenal. He worked as a Deputy in Morlais and Brynlliw Colliery and when he retired took up the hobby of CB Radio where he got his handle Dirtypaws. He was also a keen gardener and grew every vegetable and flower under the sun. Unfortunately he had heart problems and passed away on 16th November 2011. He was the best father anybody could ask for and all through his life lived with members of his family he was never alone. He will never ever be forgotten.
